Have at It! - It's the only Way!

Quote of the Day - mmmmmm, Sleeping.
I can sleep a whole day. If no one woke me up, I would sleep for 24 hours. I think it's a combination of my age and my appreciation for sleep. Sleep is so wonderful. Sometimes you can oversleep and feel like you've waster your time, but I think it's one of the best ways to spend your time.

Man vs God
I am convinced that the idea of evolution, natural selection, and the big bang have served to usurp the foundational general revelation of God to man. Our world speaks to us in ways that we can understand - the simplest form: physical, tangible, irrefutable proofs of God's existence and imprint upon our lives and the environment we enjoy. By distracting mankind with notions of an improving existence, we lose sight of the designer in the design. We celebrate the intricacies of our existence, but chalk it up as improvements, not creative design.
I no longer wonder about the presence of such a proud idea as evolution in the quest for understanding the origins of our existence. For the idea of evolution serves to eliminate God from the equation. The idea of evolution serves to eliminate the one tangible revelation of God to man in our world. The idea of evolution serves to eliminate the designer from the design. The idea of evolution seeks to take the place of our meaningful God and replace it with a meaningless, mindless, self-absorbed proud existence.
Evolution is not a friendly theory to be considered. It is an example of mankind's final chapter. We have finally taken God out of the equation. By evolution, we are finally saying that we don't even need God for our creation. We evolved ourselves, through the sheer power of our physical bodies. This idea of evolution is the ultimate in our becoming our own god. With evolution we have successfully eliminated God. We celebrate our design, but deny the designer. We have finally reached the point of pure pride and self-absorption.
Tell me, then, if our world and existence has been around for millions of years, why is it that our world is deteriorating at such an accelarated rate? Perhaps because our world and existence is in fact very young due to a Creator who set it in motion? Think about it...how could our world be improving itself for millions of years and then all of a sudden, we notice that everything is falling apart? Our world can't both be getting better and dying at the same time.
Contrasts
I've been taught about goodness and godliness so much of my life that I take for granted that everybody thinks like that. As I look around, it seems that not many do. I miss the depths of human nature because of my trained way of thinking. I miss how consumed people are by their human nature, giving no thought to God, others, or even their own conscience. They have lived their lives so long in the patterns of selfishness, pride, and sinfulness that their only inclination is to think like that. Their life's experiences have only served to reinforce their corrupted heart. They are only trained to live like that now. Our worldviews are stark contrasts, and yet we got here the same way. Oh, that the Spirit would send his light!
New Activity
Hey Folks... Thanks for coming on over! There has been some new activity in my life lately. It seems as if God has given me a new opportunity to be in Full time vocational ministry. I will be working as Director of Youth Ministries at a local church here in my area. I'm really looking forward to this new challenge and to seeing what the Lord has in store for me.
I just wanted to share this with you because I know that God has orchastrated the entire thing. I had stopped looking for this kind of employment and just as I resolve to being a full time minister in the Marketplace, God does this for me. Proof that when you least expect it and seemingly don't want it, He goes ahead and demonstrates His power and sovereignty and perfect timing.
Praise the Lord!

Quote of the Day - We always want more

"Ambition is so powerful a passion in the human breast that however high we reach, we are never satisfied."
~Niccolo Machiavelli
And let me tell you why we always want more. It's because there IS more. People in this world are continuously searching for more satisfaction, more success, more this and more that because they are missing the number One thing that matters most... the number One thing that God has designed the human race to want more of... and that is: God Himself. Jesus himself says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me." We are constantly trying to bring meaning to our lives and searching for something more when in truth and reality, we can stop looking. He's right there. Just LOOK! He's right there knocking at your heart... knocking at your soul... just let Him in. He loves YOU, no matter what.

Quote of the Day - FUNNY
A couple decided to go to Cyprus for the weekend, but because they both worked it was hard to coordinate their schedules. So they decided the husband would go a day early, and his wife would join him the following day. On arriving, the husband thought he would email his wife from his laptop, but he accidentally mistyped her email address and sent it off without realising. A widow had just returned from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who had been "called home to glory" following a heart attack. The widow checked her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends, but instead found this:
To: My Loving Wife
From: Your Departed Husband
Subject: I've Arrived!
I've just arrived and have checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was. (P.S. Sure is hot down here!)

Recent Thoughts
I am not willing to accept that we are simply products of evolution; life does not hold enough meaning, hope, or purpose with that.
The local church is not a church; it is a part of the church.
Built up to be torn down; torn down to be built up.
Quote of the Day - "What every church wants in a pastor."
The perfect pastor preaches exactly 10 minutes. He condemns sin, but never hurts anybody's feelings. He works from eight in the morning until midnight and is also the church janitor. He is 29 years old and has 40 years experience. He makes 15 housecalls a day and is always in the office. (this quote is from a book my wife is reading)
There are plenty of second-career pastors who understand laypeople, but very few pastor-turned-laypeople who understand pastors.

Puzzled Puzzle Piece
The problem is, I find, that people try to fit God into their lives. But, people, God does not fit anywhere in our lives. God is not a puzzle piece, to fit in the puzzle of your life; God is the puzzle, and he wants you in him. We've lost the part where God is in control - where God is sovereign. We have focused far too much attention on our response to God, his salvation, and his calling upon our lives. We have focused on our response to God as if our response is the miraculous work or ingredient in our salvation. We have lost the part where God actually does the saving work in a person's life. Our response is just that, a response; it carries no power of its own to save. Therefore, I am the puzzle piece while God is the puzzle. Let us stop treating God like he is a puzzle piece in our lives.
