Open-Minded Christians - Part 2
While to some, this Title may seem like a contradiction, it is the description of an ideal picture for what a Christian should look like and be like. However, in the church's paranoia to preserve the purity of the gospel message, we have taken the solitary nature of our salvation and translated it into the whole of our experience as Christains - and humans! We think and process our life in a very narrow, shallow field of reference, observation, and experience. We certainly don't venture too far out of the box. And yet, we, the church, the faith-filled, are we not the ones who should be the risk takers? Are we not the ones who should be willing to question anything and everything? For if God is real and true to mankind, would he not be able to prove himself and defend himself? Yes, he would. It is not our job to protect the sanctity of God's truth and his gospel through our narrow, shallow thinking. We are called to open up the floodgates, to spread the waters, to walk on water! And yet, what are we doing with our God-given gifts of faith? Storing them up for a rainy day, I'm afraid. We are weak - a very weak force in our community and culture.
