Open-Minded Christians - Part 1

We are accused of being close-minded. We are accused of being narrow-minded. We are accused of being exclusively-minded. The church, and its Christians who make it up, are in fact Close-Minded, contrary to our wishful thinking. We preach, "my way or the highway!" We proclaim, "God's way or no way!" We profess, "Christ is the only way - to heaven and salvation!" But when did we ever take the time to be OPEN to Christ? When do we ever take the time to be OPEN to his Spirit? When will we ever take the time to be OPEN to his Father? The church today looks exactly like the culture and society that consumes it. We run headlong into our agendas and ambitions, completely ignoring the true mission of the church, and focus exclusively on ourselves. We attempt to build up the church in our own strength, ability, and wisdom. In that, we are surely doomed to fail; and in fact, we are! May we be open-minded to the Spirit; may we be open-hearted to God; may we have our lives open to Christ, that he may come in and fill us with his Spirit, that Christ may be our life!
