Clashing Wills - Part 3
Man has the iron will...strong, resolute, stubborn to the very end. God has the living will...inviting, intrusive, including to the very end. The will of man is very deceptive; it blinds us to itself so that we continue feeding it. Its tool? Pride. Our will's nature epitomizes what it exists to do: survive. It not only helps us survive but it seeks to survive as its own power and force. It wants to survive and thrive as well. Little by little, slowly but surely, the will of mankind creeps into our relationship with the Creator. We eventually end up depending on ourselves, while still claiming and proclaiming Christ. You see that pattern repeated throughout the Old Covenant. "There is nothing new under the sun." We are driven. May God use that drive for the greater good, to his glory, and man's reward, for all eternity.
