Clashing Wills - Part 2

The will of God and the will of man want the same thing. But the will of God is rooted in a heart of love, humility, and selflessness; the heart of man is filled with himself. We both want to rule, but both with two very different motives. God wants to rule out of love, in view of his deep love for us; man wants to rule over others for his own glory and gain. They clash. That's why it is so hard for man to enter heaven, for it is himself that stands in the way. We must be humbled and filled with faith. Moreover, it is the deceptive nature of our proud will that blinds us from the truth. There again, it is ourselves who stand in the way of our own freedom. May we be brought low that God may lift us up.
