Now or Never

2 Corinthians 6:2 - Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. [NLT]

For some reason, people in the world naturally think that they don't need to be saved from anything. They say, “I'm a good person and I don't do anything bad.” Or, they may know they need God, but they think they have lots of time to make things right with God... that they'll do it when it's “the right time”.

From my experience, people who think this way are scared to give up their lifestyles. They are scared because it's really all they know, it's how they grew up, it's all their friends...etc. They are scared to lose all they know. It's amazing the faith we put in what we see around us. The things we see always fall apart and decay; people die, plans fail, we get hurt.

The hope that I personally have in Jesus never seems to fade. Yes, I have my bad days... sometimes too many in a row, but I always seem to know that He's right there waiting to pick me up from my slump. The Bible tells us, way back when the Apostle Paul wrote his letters – particularly the letters to the Corinthian people in Second Corinthians 6:2 – “Indeed, the 'right time' is now. Today is the day of salvation.”

The word “indeed” that used here implies urgency in the 'right time' statement of that scripture. Revelation 22:7 says, in the words of Jesus Christ Himself - “Behold, I am coming soon!” and Jesus said it again in the same chapter in verse 12 - “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.”

Those words were spoken by Jesus a couple thousand years ago and He used the word “soon” to indicate when he would be coming back to judge the world. If He was saying that He was coming soon, THAT long ago... can you imagine how much closer He is to coming back NOW, thousands of years later?

Please, try to sense the urgency in your own heart for God... search for it... long for it! Please, don't hold back any longer because before you know it, it will be too late... and the “right time” will have passed you by and the regret will be forever.
