Our Christian RESPONSibility

We have one responsibility in our interaction and relationship with God; and it is hidden in the word RESPONSibility...RESPONSE. We are called to respond to God, not the other way around. To those free-willers out there, this may offend you. (Even though I feel that the religious worldview of North America is based on this idea of free-will.) But think about this question: Who is in control of your life and destiny? Who is in control of your relationship with God? Is Christ Lord of your life, or are you on the throne? Who calls the shots? Is it not us, who in turn ask, hope and pray that God will bless our designs, programs and agendas? Who is sovereign? Who serves who? Man's church has given mankind an undeserved role of calling the shots and in turn seeking and even expecting God's blessing. We have turned the tables on our rightful roles and positions. We have given God the role of service. We see him as benefiting us now. We see him as existing for our PLEASURE. God does not desire our pleasure and blessing anymore than he desires for us to truly know him; for in knowing him, and being known by him, we find our fulfillment in life, our very reason for living, and purpose for our existence. What is the attitude of our heart? That's where the problem lies. Do we see God as our genie-in-a-bottle or as the Sovereign Lord that he is? If you can honestly answer that question, you will see that our role is that of RESPONSE. Let's stop trying to be the Holy Spirit. Let's stop trying to play God. Let's stop trying to take the role of Creator.
